January is a month to catch up after a very busy 2009. Also, a time to get back in shape and begin training for some long hikes this year.

It’s Christmas in North Idaho December I was fortunate to spend the entire month with Tisha and Marv in North Idaho.  A special time. We were able to cross country ski, hike in the hills and the wild life refuge

Thanksgiving saw a visit from Grandchildren Andy, Sarah, Nathan and my sister Harriet.

Off to Ely, MN for a week of canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area with Deborah, Kris, Diana and Judy. And our guide Andy. Our weather was perfect: But the fishing was great! All’s well that ends well, and yes we would do it again!!

July arrived with the lovely wedding of Dan and Amanda at the University of Chicago.

We began the month with a Rim To Rim hike of the Grand Canyon.  We spent 8 days in the canyon, many side trips from the Bright Angel trail. Many Water falls We made it to the South Rim And celebrated!

So much has happened since March of 2009. It was a great year, many trips to see family and friends. Lots of hiking trips. Houseboat trip April 2009 at Lake Powell, AZ
